Dominae Primus on P & E

by Dominae Primus

Preditors & Editors have been my reference on matters concerning agents and publishers for the better part of the previous decade. If there's any updated online resource that houses background information on the authenticity of agents and publishers online, it has to be this site.

We who have come upon these pages in our online search are also privileged to have the internet as a means of obtaining information. As many of you may recall, the www wasn't available widely until around the late 1990s. I myself have been misled by a scammer of literary agent who charged so called 'fees' for two years before I discovered the internet on my own. Since a true agent only charged a percentage upon a successful book deal, the US based bogus agent never received a penny from me after that.

Also, information gleaned from Preditors & Editors enabled me to warn a friend of mine who was close to engaging the services of a one-stop printing and publishing scam operation that preyed on aspiring authors. Based on feedback and proof from Preditors & Editors, this friend of mine ceased contact with the vanity publisher.

I also had vanity presses making overtures to me but I refused to pay print charges, editing review charges, marketing related charges et cetera to be published. There are also operations that purportedly offer both standard submissions and vanity publishing. More often than not, there will be excuses for every submission received and authors are cajoled into the vanity publishing route.

A check on the list of vanity press operations at Preditors & Editors is more than enough to confirm any doubts.

In addition, I have for many years checked the authenticity of literary agents, literary agencies and publishing houses by tracing the names and data captured on this site. If any known scam operation had altered its name with a variation of its original, disgraced name or even a complete name change, Preditors & Editors is the site to perform a cross check.

As always, caveat emptor.

Bio: Dominae Primus always wanted to write. She started with non-fiction material and gradually progressed to fiction. In previous careers, she served as Technical Writer, Content Writer and later as freelance content writer and editor.

Some of her work found a permanent home at Project Gutenberg in 2003. Just look for her under 'Dom' at Gutenberg.net. There are also links to her work there in her weblog at http://dominaeprimus.blogspot.com.

For her other published work, she prefers to use kobobooks.com because of its global reach and compatibility of its digital formats on most digital and mobile devices. Some of her works there are Second Chances, Absolutely Done, Granary County, and Daily Doses and Vital Verses. Of course, like many writers she looks forward to someday having her works become animated features and motion pictures.
